Strong Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is reliant on Keyword Promotion within an article in order to boost the ranking of a particular website.

The problem for copywriters is that inserting keywords into text can often be terribly contrived, particularly if the keywords themselves do not naturally fit with the story of the day. As a result, copywriters are in danger of writing robotic text, which may engage the search engine crawlers, but fails to entice the reader.

Mike Yanke, a copywriting expert for the Online Marketing Blog warns that whilst uncreative writing may serve the search engine crawlers, such writing is "misguided" and unacceptable in strong SEO. "Perhaps the biggest mistake we can make as copywriters when we find ourselves writing specifically for a search engine optimization initiative is becoming untrue to our own creative personalities."

Although copywriters can often get frustrated by having to bend their text to fit around keywords in order for websites to Improve Ranking, Mr Yanke believes it should be taken as a challenge to write interesting and engaging articles which still serve the primary function of including those all important keywords.

"Remember - we're writing for humans, here," he writes, "Use your keyword just enough that a human will know what it is you are talking about. The ‘bots we create will follow-suit." According to Mr Yanke, copywriters must take the approach that the search engine crawler is one more member of a target audience that needs to be given attention in writing; it should not be the be all and end all.

"Being a copywriter means adapting your voice to become the voice of your target audience... When writing content for SEO, you add the additional layer of complexity of expanding your audience to include the search engine ‘bots."

The key for copywriters is to keep things fresh and interesting. Ultimately, the challenge is to write articles which seamlessly blend informative and Relevant Content with keywords that will promote the website. Poorly constructed articles will only serve to irritate the reader, which serves no purpose at all.
